Project Description

Brand strategy, visual identity, and creative direction for Eden Prairie Schools by Schmitt Creative

Eden Prairie Schools selected Schmitt Creative through an RFP process in 2018 to lead a comprehensive visual rebrand. The district had a strong mission and vision, “Inspiring Each Student Every Day,” and wanted a unified visual system with elements that could be trademarked. As a district parent and long-time EP Schools volunteer, Melissa has a special connection to this work.

Schmitt Creative began with an extensive visual audit and branding workshops with district stakeholders. From that work, the firm developed a new visual identity system with three core components: an updated EP symbol, a suite of academic logos, and a proprietary mascot unique to the district.

The EP symbol forms the foundation of the system. Combined with the wings, it becomes the academic logo, representing inspiration and excellence. Integrated with the eagle, it creates the district’s distinctive mascot.

Schmitt Creative extended the logo system to each school, program, and activity offered by Eden Prairie Schools and created a style guide to provide strategic direction for the brand.

Since then, Schmitt Creative has continued to work with the district to bring the visual identity to life through branded environments, classrooms, and displays; logo extensions for special projects such as referendum initiatives; interior and exterior signage, maps, and wayfinding; fence and trailer wraps; apparel; and marketing collateral including brochures, catalogs, digital ads, and presentation decks.
